Dufus in the white car pulls out in front of a 3.0si giving it some welly.
Not so clever being at top whack on a 2 lane stretch tho imo.

Using an antique to be fair - IE11. But I don't want to go for pointless updates that may (undoubtedly will  ) come with viri (Plural of virus for non-linguists) - so if I need to add something I would, but I'm not going to offer an open invite to all worms and viri by taking a potshot with Java, flash (then CRASH)!

Sounds like u need to get with the times tidy mate!
Why not install (first) a decent antivirus and firewall? I use comodo free version for years and its tip top.
Then mozilla firefox browser - better than crapppy ie.
Then java and flash- the sandbox feature will work when installing, giving u option to approve or not....
Easy peasy

Thanks Chris,

I'm using Avast (same as AVG) at present, so not "crapppy" ie.

But I really can't be a*sed with poncey, pretentious settings - I'd rather spend my time driving my Z4! :P

I get to use autobahn a couple of times a year and I'm yet to find an empty stretch to max a car properly , last year I was out of the hotel and onto the autobahn by 6.30 am , no problem this time I thought , until I saw all the trucks
Problem with it , it's a bit like the Nurburgring , everyone just assumes they are the best driver in the world and everyone else is at fault . Surely it's up to the faster car driver to drive to the conditions at the time ? Just because your allowed to drive as fast as you want doesn't mean should .

I just about had an indicated 290km/h (180mph) on the motorbike a few years back

Took the Z4M up to 150mph last September but the (ex-)girlfriend wasn't keen!

Ther's an amazing smooth, quiet, straight stretch on the 44 between Dortmund and Kassel. Always managed to get Benny, my e36 coupe up to full chat there coming back from client meetings in Kassel.
I miss the 'woofle' of his straight six when the throttle was wide open. Snif.

Go sundaymorning as heavy trucks arent allowed to drive that day:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wochenendfahrverbot
And be sure to hit the autobahn before the average local joe goes to church/friends/whatever.

I use the 31 for my need for speed (runs roughly from Duisburg to Emden with long unlimited stretches). About 40min drive from where I live.
Its where that video was shot too btw (I know both guys in that vid)

Especially the east european trucks are dangerous. They will change lane whatever comes from behind. The right of the strongest I guess.
Also If you get into a crash in Germany above 130kph, you're automatically at fault unless you can proove that you did everything humanly possible to avoid it. Thats the legal pov anyway.

Anyone got thought on whether the little spoiler at the back of the e85's hardtop would fly off at full chat?
The angle of it means that wind resistance would place it under tension, not compression, where both ends meet the roof. As i understand it's only glued on and it's relatively small, so i dont think theres much danger it would try to pull the roof off...?

I think the hardtop will do better than the softtop.
If I drive fast on the autobahn I sometimes get the impression that forces/turbulence on the fabric is so severe that it could schred it to pieces.
at the back side by the window the softtop will vibrate like mad, some kind of resonance with the turbulence.

I have no need for a hardtop (garaged weekend car, only gets out on sunny days...), but that is one example that I would like one (but to buy a hardtop just for autobahn hoons.... :? )

The z4 in that video is I think gasman (he has an account here too)

no i totally agree the hardtop would be much better on the roadie at top speed, being a rigid structure etc.
my concern would be for the spoiler on it tho, due to the angle - wind resistance would be wanting to pull it off rather than push it down onto the roof.
Don't really fancy finding out the hard way.... :?

I've never heard of that little spoiler coming off on autobahn speeds.
If it was a significant issue, the german Z forum would be full of it I imagine.

True. Only reason I'm concerned is that I put a rear window spoiler on my coupe and it flew off on the Autobahn. Was also glued down, but onto the rear windscreen.
Wasn't too bothered as I always thought it looked a bit shall we say 'chavvy' anyway in retrospect. The glue residue was a pita to remove.
