Autobahn equals fun

Weather over here is fab, so got onto the local autobahn for a blast and it was so nice to give the Z a real boot without fear of losing your licence. Got upto 155 with extreme ease and from there things slowed down a little, then I began shutting off at just over 165 as the misses was not very happy, besides there was a bit of traffic building up and did'nt want to risk it. What a bloody buzz to give the Z a good thrashing. Roll on tomorrow...

Anything north of the Rurh area is unlimited (mostly), hence me selecting that route to get anywhere in Germany.

If you drop south, Strassbourgh to Basel is mostly unlimited as well.

Thanks mate can you recomend anywhere for an overnight in Germany say a small country town thats safe to park up the Z overnight and not likely to get mugged while strolling back from a bar on my own as i was looking at Germany so i can enjoy my car and some nice scenic routes + autobahn.

That right its only 2 hours to the German border from Calais if so then another few hours into Germany would be fine.

For our runs to Germany, we always use a hotel with underground secure storage.

What roads are unlimited as i have heard its not all Autobahn roads ?
Only ones that are marked up and this becomes a pain because when your hoofing it and then you suddenly hit a restricted zone watch out!!! The German authorities love to put camera traps there. With regards to areas of Germany that are not restricted, I cant say. Generally thought that the autobahns are throughout the whole country. We have to do matrix tests within the military to allow us onto the roads, it's a theory test but over here it is not that simple as the Germans have some strange regulations and after reading the traffic signs, rules and regs there was nothing in the manual to say that areas of Germany don't have autobahns.

In all fairness getting mugged is an uncommon thing in general. My 16 year old son went out into town on the piss (legally allowed at sixteen as long as it is not spirits) a while back, got back at 1.30am, rang the door bell and fell over the front door step landing flat on his face. A couple of local German lads had found him out of it lying on a wall and managed to get an address out of him and duely carried him back. Thanking them, I left the boy on the landing floor in a recovery position after I cleared his pockets. He managed to still have on him his wallet, watch, phone and ipod!!! In the UK I am sure he would have been fleeced well and truly. We've never had any dramas, several times I've walked back from town on my tod at 3-4am but with regards to the car, secure parking is the way. A while back some german kids spray canned two brit cars with some vulgar incorrect grammar, their point was made.
