I have a 2003 2.5 with an auto transmission. I just noticed today that I can select any gear position with the gear shift lever without the key in the ignition. This does not seem correct. I recently last week had a new gear selector assembly and a new nuetral safety switch installed due to a daily transmission warning light coming on at first start of the day.
Replacing those parts has solved the warning light issue, but I always remember the key had to be in and turned to move the gear selct lever.
Any ideas what may be causing this?
