Hi All, random question! has anyone converted an auto 3.0 E85 Z4 to a manual ? And would it be feasible? I only ask as been offered an incredibly low mileage auto 3.0 for a great price but initially dismissed it due to being an auto.
Unless you're capable of doing all the work yourself, surely it's not financially viable? It's not just the gearbox, clutch, etc, it's the instrument cluster, ecu, steering wheel and so on. It's a long list of parts to source and change over. And time consuming, therefore costly.
Is it feasible? Yes.
Is it practical? No, when you can just buy a manual instead.
Hey, try an auto. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. My last car was a GT86 with an auto box and I really enjoyed it. It certainly made sitting in traffic a whole lot easier and it was still a lot of fun to drive.
Ask anyone on this forum (like myself) that has the 3 litre auto and they will say, buy it! It really is a great car to drive and the manual mode isn’t at all bad. I guess you could add flappy paddles if you wanted.
Seriously, if the car is that good, buy it, give it a fair shake and worst case you sell it on! They’d be lots of interest in it come the Spring!!
