Auto - stop / start (temporamental?)

For those with this feature do you find that some times it works well and other times not at all?
Even with the engine at operating temperature and after a long run mine just does it's own thing and when it does re-start it's often quite "aggressive" - if that's the right word?
Certainly not as good as the system on Mrs. Mini Cooper

I don't have the stop start but I assume you mean by aggressive that the car is pretty punchy? Just wants to shoot you forward when you release the brake? If so this could need a trip to the dealers and a possible reprogramming of the auto box.

I had this happen on my previous car where all seemed fine, you'd stop at traffic lights and go to move off and wham it was quite forceful and brakes would need to be applied to bring it back under control. It was as if you had put the foot down harder than you had, almost a kick down feeling. Turned out to be an issue with the program which needed updated.

I'm guessing you have a manual and not an Auto? lol

There are a number of reasons why the stop start doesn't engage, low ambient temperature, low battery etc, on my old 1 Series it was hopeless and rarely worked so I reckon it was a glitch however on the Zed it works everytime when temps are over 10C, I never use it though its always switched off :)

Mine is temperamental, I accept that it should not work under certain conditions (low engine temp, low ambient temp) when start/stop is not economical. However I can't get to understand exactly what those conditions are, seems rather random.

I never noticed the 'aggressive' behaviour.

Mine kept on stalling, it was like it wanted to go into engine off when I was running at low revs in traffic. others I could move along with no peddle or clutch and engine tick over increased to compensate. This would stall and come up with stop start error. Few weeks its been fine.

In terms of stop start, mine is quite reliable, but I do 20 miles each way doing 40 to 50 with only a few stops, so time for engine to warm and battery get charged. It may also be due to turbo use dont want to shut this down when warm???.
