I will be upgrading the audio system in the next few days so I wanted to share with you what I will be doing and would be very happy to get some advice !

Head - Unit: Keeping the OEM one.

Speaker: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201614960204?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Going for the Audison 163 ( Is there anywhere I can find the correct sizes and power of the OEM ones please ??!! )
I will change the footwell and door speakers and add the tweeters - Meds behind the seats are staying.

Subwoofer: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005E6GZIG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3L6BX3BPCMFWA
( Underseat amplified sub) I will use some Velcro or screw it between the seats (Standing)

My only concern at the moment is how to get the battery feed into the cabin to power the sub ??!!

I have decided and purchased what I am going for:

Get on your back and look under the steering column etc, Ben, you'll find a grommet you can feed the power cable through. How are you going to turn the sub on, form the head unit or pick up from a speaker feed? I don't know what you've got in your car already but if it's just the, no offence, crap business radio, will it power the new mids you're putting in?

Audison bass, mids and tweets rated at 125 RMS and peak load at 375 watts, the stock head unit only delivers 25watts peak IIRC, or have you got an amp?

Hi John,

I have got the crappy system yes (6 speakers), the active sub has a remote control.

I will be feeding the the Meds and Tweeters from the HU, the footwell subs will be amplified from the active sub amplifier.

This will be my phase one, if not happy with the sound the I will change the HU, all the cables and add and Amp.

I can't believe how bad is the current system !!! Can't think of anything worse tbh.

Yes the business set up gets a kicking from most people, and for good reason, it's pitiful.

I would'nt think you can run any external speakers off that subamp combo though Ben, surely it just powers it's own two internal subs, there's no capacity for it to run anything else from it. Also are you sure the Standard HU will fire those Mids and tweeters, as I put before you're asking a 25 watt peak power HU to power 125 rms up to 375 watt speakers, it won't work to my mind. I'm not trying to rip your ideas to bits mate but I'm struggling to see how this is going to work. The woofers, Mids and tweets need amping to work properly.

I would have thought what you need is a separate 2 channel amp capable of powering the floor woofers, Mids and tweeters, 1 channel for the woofers, and the other for the Mids, tweets. Then your sub amp combo separate. You can run two of those sub amps, one under each seat if you don't want subs mounting in the boot etc. Personally I think you'll need two of those sub amp combo's as amp'd up the door and floor speakers will be too much for just one.

Just my thoughts Ben and as I say I'm not trying to pee on your parade fella but I think you need to maybe have a re-think, or check with a car audio place that your idea will work before shelling out any money.

Many thanks John, as I have mentioned I am open to Ideas and your input is of great help.

I am not after a top notch sound system as I want to keep the HU.

I think I will have to add an amp from what you saying - I am not very experienced with audio systems.

From what I've read, you connot feed an amp directly from the HU and therefore I wouldnt be able to feed the meds and the tweets. Will be feeding the subamp from the footwell wires.

I have visited a reputable audio shop in berks and they advised to keep the HU to feed the meds and tweets (quoted 1200 for the work to be done), so I am going with what they have advised but might get a second opinion.

Please feel free to add any comments or Ideas !

You don't mention the floor woofers above Ben, however as I see it you're going to add an amp to fire the component speakers, so the floor woofers, Mids and tweets, with signal to feed the amp from the front OEM speaker wires, and you'll need a remote switch, though I don't think you can use the speaker wires for this, you need a separate feed from the head unit I think, and then your under seat subamp combo. The cost of the amp plus fitting the speakers and subamp is in the £1200 yes? If so I'm estimating an amp at approx £300, so £900 for fitting. Seems rather steep IMHO Ben, for an experienced audio place a day at most for fitting if it's just a case of replacing like for like and not adding sound deadening etc.
