That is what I would have thought as well. Like I say the range confuses me, but not an audi fan personally so never bothered to look at them

Almost but not quite, will be based on the Polo loon as I believe the new Skoda Rapid is also?

The Loon is not available here but seen it in India and it looks nice.

I would think the primary market for this would be North America and emerging markets such as China where saloons are far more popular than hatchbacks. Remember reading somewhere that the VW Jetta outsells the Golf by about 10 to 1 in America.

But surely anyone who is looking for an Audi saloon first choice will be the A4, why go for the A3? Can't say it really looks any better than the A4, in fact I rather the A4.

It was going to be US only because Americans just can't get their heads round the whole hatchback idea, it's just far too radical for them. Audi have obviously changed their mind and now it will be inflicted on us as well.

That Merc CLA effort looks very like a Vauxhall insignia from certain angles. I had a look at a Skoda Rapid and it looked like VAG had really forced Skoda to make it look cheap inside so they can sell more Golfs. The interior was a step backwards from the Octavia.

The A4 has been getting bigger & bigger, so you'll probably find this A3 will be the same size as the A4 was 10 or so years ago.

They're also making noises about an A3 Coupe, just for Taz

Same principle as with BMW then imo. The 1 series is the size of an old 3 series, the 3 series like the old 5 and the new 5 is as big as the old 7 series (Or at least that's how it seems to me!)

Have to say it doesn't look too bad imo, I quite like it but for the back which looks 'compact', reminds me of Seat or something, but the front etc. certainly looks similar to an A4.

Mind you, that's the S3 photos I'm looking at, so I'm guessing the more standard A3 saloon won't look quite so good.
