AUC warranty confusion!

Afternoon all,

Can someone explain the differences between the official AUC warranty and that provided by mondial but offered through BMW. I’m confused!

If I buy an AUC with 12 months warranty who provides the warranty, BMW or mondial?

At the end of the 12 month period if I choose to extend the warranty do I get the choice of a BMW warranty or a mondial backed warranty?

Thanks in advance.

I've had several AUC's and any warranty work has been dealt with directly by the dealer. I've never seen anything referring to a 3rd party.

I've never had a car long enough to extend the warranty!

The AUC warranty is provided by BMW. You cannot buy it separately, though some people have been able to negotiate 2 years cover when buying a car. The car needs to be serviced in accordance with BMW's requirements, but the servicing does not need to be carried out by a BMW dealer.

The Extended warranty is provided by Mondial, and is actually an insurance policy. It is not nearly as comprehensive as the AUC warranty (which includes MoT failure items, even consumables like tyres), and it it is proving more and more difficult to claim under it. Many parts which are not listed as "exclusions" (e.g. roof motor on Z4 Roadster, wing mirror housing on my M5) have been refused for all sorts of spurious reasons. All servicing must be carried out by a BMW dealer.

Whichever warranty you have, any work will be carried out by a BMW dealer.
