At what milage did you need to change bushes?

My car has just gone over 70k miles and it feels ok, but can tell that the bushes are getting worn.

When did you find you needed to change them?

(I only ask, because IME when they go in for MOT's they have to be really bad before they even put them down as an advisory)

You need to change them when they're worn. There isn't a set mileage. Its like saying "when should i change my discs and pads?'. There is a reason they have tolerances and why MOT stations test for them. If you're concerned, take your car for a pre-mot check at a garage.

My 3.0si coupe has done 45k and the front bushes are a little slack according to my MOT tester, also a mate so I know im not being fobbed off lol, i'm having them changed soon as i prefer tight bushes to slack ones :P

Did mine at 62k, feels like a new car.Did them as a precaution as the car felt ok before, just feels better now. Was an easy DIY job.

I had the wishbone rear bushes done and it was a huge improvement makes me think that when the car gets to about 70-80k maybe all rubber bushes should be changed if you want that 'like new' feel?

I did poly flex but its a trade off in comfort vs precise feel , I think I will go with oem comfort next time to be honest

+1 bit I'm sticking with feel over comfort! I think you might be waiting a while yg54sg as the main reason the original bushes fail is because they are rubber and perish over time and use but powerflex are polyurethane so should last a loooooot longer! :driving:

65K and my rear wishbone bushes were shot to pieces so I changed all of the bushes on the car and it drove tightly afterwards.

What does the steering feel like when they are worn? I have noticed reversing and stopping that there is a slight jolt when breaking... Is this a sign of worn bushes? The car is on 67,000 :?

had mine done at 50k, but all depends on how the car is driven to how long they last, if the previous owners hit all speed humps etc at 30mph then they wont last as long as someone like me who slows down to say around 10mph :D

depends whether its antiroll bar bushes or control arm/wishbone bushes ?
you could afford to do the first almost every service but the latter is much more expensive . as i know cause thats what needed doing on mine at 90k . generally loose feel at front & the telltale knock/rattle over speedbumps .
here,s the ECP link for cost idea http://www.eurocarparts.com/suspension-bushes

What's a bush?

a rubber collar that fits between two moving steering / suspension parts to prevent the metal coming together & provide cushioning ?
or http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bushing

:)
other forms of "bushes" are indeed available :P
