Armrest Latch Pin Swap - is it possible?

I've searched for this but haven't managed to find the answer. I've recently changed my interior, and I've discovered that on my 'new' armrest cover, the male latch pin that normally latches into the corresponding female part on the main centre console and keeps the lid closed is significantly shorter than my old one - meaning the lid doesn't stay closed.

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap this part. And by part I mean the small pin? I have a complete centre console with a good pin that I can take the part from, but it isn't obvious how to do this, and I cant swap the whole cover as they are different colours.

Any ideas?

Anything is possible!!

I've just looked at some photos of the lid and it confirmed what I was thinking, and as you say, no visual point of entry. But it was put together, so in theory then it must come apart.
If you've got another one, would it just be a straight lid swap, or is that one with bad/marked leather? If it is damaged, then I'd use that one to rip apart to find how it is fastened together.

Different coloured leather unfortunately ('new' (but with a broken pin) is tan, old one is black). I'm hoping that maybe the padded leather part is somehow clipped onto the plastic 'base'? I'd rather not sacrifice either part as the 'old' (black) one is in good condition and may be of use to someone - and the tan one is in the car now, so needs to be operational! I'll need to take a closer look
