Are Xenon and Halo Headlights Interchangable?

Hi guys, I`m new here
I have a `03 Z4 3.0 which was imported from the US.
I`m having problems with my headlights, which are stock xenons and I`m planning to change them. A friend of mine offers me a pair of halogen headlights saying they`ll work on my car. I`m not so sure and I`d like to ask if any of the following would be possible:
1. Completely changing the headlights, fitting halo instead of xenons. Are the connectors the same? and is it possible without changing the electrics?
2. Using just the "box" from halo headlights, inserting the lamps and other stuff from my headlights into it

i don't know what's the problem with your xenons but don't change to halogens.

based on what I have read here, they are not interchangeable without major modifications!
