hello,

i'm thinking of lightening my car but don't quite fancy the aftermarket seats that are currently available like sparco, bride, recaro etc etc

i actually quite like the OEM M-seats but would prefer the non-electric ones to save a little weight. i've searched on realoem.com but can't seem to find any part numbers.

anyone knows if the M-seats are available with manual adjustment and the relevant part numbers?

thanks

They are available in Europe, but to retrofit the electric heated ones was (from memory) about $4k per seat. The manual ones would be cheaper still, but if you want them either get them on Ebay or get recaro or similar instead.

Thanks Mike!

i don't need heated ones... its above 30 degrees celsius ambient here. i just hope that these are available for right hand drive models too!

perhaps i'll check with my dealer, although somehow i'm doubtful that they'll know.

cheers

The only difference is the sensor for the passenger airbag and also the seat belt warning buzzer, so whilst it's not impossible to switch these around or disconnect them, it's easier to get the right ones, unless the wrong ones were cheaper.

You can get them manual adjust. but sit down when you ask the price. I have them from the factory when I bought the car. In after sales they are more expensive and I now this because it was discused on the Z4um a while back therefor I now it's about 3000 euro for those seats.

A friend of mine that works out of Singapore several months out of the year describe the climate as having two seasons:
Humid and Hot
Hot and Humid

What's the best time of year to visit? I'll probably be there sometime next year.

june to july's a great time if you intend to shop since its the annual "great singapore sale".

any chance you'll have space in your luggage for some gauges and coilovers?

i guess its time to rummage through the scrapyards!

I'm thinking of fitting a pair of lightweight Sparco or Recaro seats. Anybody tried this or got any info on suitable candidates?

They're available. I have them in my M. They'll cost about $9K to retrofit.

how much weight are we saving here? i was thinking about getting non-electric //M seats next time around as well... but thats just me bieng cheap. i'm still on the fence about it though.

JMO, but unless this was just part of a bigger weight loss effort;
seats alone wouldn't be worth the time & money.

After the initial placebo effect wears off you wouldn't notice any difference.

I was really more concerned with the $950 that BMW charges to get them motorized... but nonetheless, maybe I can justify not bieng motorized in my head with some convicing facts lol
