Are my wheels fitted correctly?

Hi there.
I've just bought a BMW Z4 3.0si sport coupe for the first time and I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice. When I got the car home i noticed that the front tyres were 255/35/18 and the rears were 225/40/18. Is that correct? The car handles sweat enough but I just thought it odd to have the bigger tyres on the front of a rear drive car. Hope that's not a daft question but they didn't give me the owners hand book so I'm a bit lost.

Welcome to the Forum,

No, thats definitely wrong. Should be 225's on the front and 255's on the rear.

PS. Feel free to introduce yourself with a few details of your new Zed, before someone asks for some pictures...

I would say you have them on the wrong way round buddy. The rears should be wider and have a smaller profile. 255 us the standard rear. The fronts 225 I would swap them round I bet it will look better and should feel better too

 Just hope they put the right tyres on the right wheels

Rear wheels should be 8 1/2" front 8"

Yep. Stamped on the inside of the spokes should be a wheel depth if I remember? Check that you have the 8J on the front.

would the fronts not rub with the wider tyres on the front?

Guessing not. Perry's did when he made that massive cockup, but I think Alpina rears are 9"

Yes, the Alpina rears are 265/35/19's, but even with 255/35/18's there cant be much clearance

Perry drove his so 9" just touch, the 8.5" must just clear.

Thanks to everyone for letting me know about this monumental boo, boo, I'll get it sorted post haste  I'm a truckie and away at mo but will get some pics posted for you at the weekend

Keep on trucking buddy. Simple easy thing fix. Once you have a look and now you know you will see it won't look quite right
