Are Extra Load Winter Tyres a Necessity?

As above really, can I get away with standard TL's or should I really be going for XL TL's? Load index of the TL is 91, XL is 94, how much of a difference will it make and is it worth the 30% premium of the XL to go with that instead?

Tyres in question are Conti TS850's.

91 is 615kg per wheel, 94 is 670.

BMW list 90-94 as suitable load ratings for your model (although only 91 and 94 as winters), so I wouldn't worry about sticking with the 91s.

It's not as if you'll be fully loaded at high (100mph+) speeds anyway.
