I want to apologize for this virus that was in proper way to listen to classical music. My Norton did not detect it. I didn't realize I had untill I read AJ'S post and found that I have the same problem that AJ has. My neighbor is working on it now. He is looking for solution for it. Hope he finds it. If not i will have to start from scratch. He also said not to back up any files for they may be infected. According to him these new virus are hidden in the video. When you play the video is when you get infected. I guess that is why Norton didn't find. AJ if you find a cure please let me know. I don't think I will be opening any more videos. All though like f-n-i said it is hard not to as some are so funny.
Once again I am sorry for this.

..10 lashes with a wet noodle! :whip: You certainly didn't do it on purpose, it happens sometimes. It's all repairable I'm sure, if nothing else take it to the Geek Sqaud. They've done great work for me before

Try the link I posted in the other thread:

Not sure but I am not convinced it's in the video... might be wrong but I dont think it is. If you goys cant fix it I'll click it on my other laptop and then let you know how to fix it once I have fixed it myself.

You are correct, it is currently impossible to embed a virus into the video itself, however you can embed ActiveX and Java controls into the hyperlink

I'm actually more of a FreeBSD guy, but most people don't know what that is. That actually makes me more of a fan of the Mac.

One word MACINTOSH.

Three words MACINTOSH OR nothing

Go apple go!

One of the best anti-virus type programs out there is AVG antivirus. Updates several times a day finds pretty much everything. Don't use Norton. Or McAffee either. They sucks. I had Norton once -shudders- anyways, computer was running like it had a virus. Norton was fully updated, didn't find anything. So I got ahold of sophos it found 3 infected files, then I got ahold of NOD32, found 10 infected files. So after cleaning I surfed some net tech forums and found that NOD32/AVG were the bestest. Also AVG has a free 30 day trial. I've used/still use both and like them both equally as much. AVG goes a bit above though as it's free. Yes you can keep requesting 30 day trial keys.

On a side note, I haven't tried any of them on my Mac yet, haven't needed too :)

P.S. Linux is nice too.

Doesn't AVG have a free version? they used to.

I like Sophos for their everything in one approach. I had one of their reps on the phone the other day trying to sell me on it. Too bad my boss only likes Mcafee.

Yeah AVG has a full version trial, lasts 30 days. You can cheat the system too and keep using the free one too. I did that for several months, then I broke down and payed for NOD32.

Sophos was great, I used it a few times, but that was about the time when I found out about AVG and NOD32 so.

Since we're on the topic of freeware utilities, I thought I'd plug this website, as I refer / use a lot of their recommendations:

Cheers.

FYI, AVG does have a free version... they hide it pretty well on their website though, I just search fro "AVG free" on google.

COMPUTER IS REPAIRED!!!!

I was able to start my computer in Safe Mode and use System Restore to get everything back to normal. Now I just gotta figure out why Norton won't allow me to turn on "Real Time File Protection". Whatever! I'm back!!! (and I'm pretty sure I got the virus cleaned off of here)

Don't trust Norton. Period.
Go to
http://free.grisoft.com/
Download the Anitvirus free edition.

If I recall, it'll ask for a key...i think you put trial in there. Either that or you register to get a cd key sent to you via email.
