Anything special about bmw coolant?

Hi all-i bought my zed over xmas on the understanding that the brake fluid be changed(due)-thought id check coolant level -i found it was just under :( -the dealer has agreed to look into it with a pressure test but because they sell many different cars (big company tho)-im now worried they may use a different coolant,are they all up to the job?-as well as brake fluid?-your thoughts appreciated.
 
You will probably get advice to use anything from tesco's own to relieving yourself in the coolant tank :lol:
However the BMW engines are an interesting mix of metals so personally I would only use BMW coolant
after all it will fit the engines characteristics specifically and minimise any chemical mismatch

+1.

The additives are purely there to stop interaction between the varying metals (rust/corrosion) the coolant comes into contact with. In theory additives from OEM are for the specific metals & quantities for the individual car. I'm not 100% convinced, however I do know VAG additives are particularly good. I would imagine BMW additives are also better than your average Halfords stuff.
