Guys,
Been sorting car insurance out for my wife granny and did the usual searches on comparison sites. SAGA came in at about £500 with 350xs (she is 79 and drives a 8 year old focus diesel). However, on moneysupermarket the cheapest came up as a company call "Insure The Box" @ £389 with 250xs. I have looked into these and it is so much cheaper as they fit a GPS box to your car (free) and it records things like miles, speed, roads used, heavy braking, impact if you have an accident (also acts as a tracker if your car gets stolen) etc. You get 6000 miles a year with the policy (more than enough for her) then you can pay to top up. It also rewards you with bonus miles if you "drive sensibly" i.e. don't speed/heavy break to often, use certain road types (A/B etc). Its clearly aimed at young drivers to make them drive sensibly but think it would be fine for my wifes granny. I had never heard of them but according to an article in the times its backed by a top insurance underwriter covered by the FSA and with a "A" rating.
Just wondered is any of you guys had used these/had thoughts on it?
