Anyone used H2O valeting?

They have valet centres in Brum.. thinking about taking my Z4 in, just wondered what your experience with them has been?

Ask yourself 2 things:

1) Do you want: a) valet; b) detail?
2) Are they a: c) valeting company; d) detailing company?

If you want 'a' and they are 'c' then they're much of a muchness and just try to find out if they've been in business a while.
If you want 'b' and they are 'c' then don't expect much for £30-£60.
If you want 'a' and they are 'd' then expect to pay quite a bit for a good valet.

Although a quick look at their website shows lots of pages still under construction, but the premises look clean and well maintained which is always good to see.

What's the difference.. they clean the car!? .. as in, am I a "washing up assistant" or "crockery cleaning technician"..

The difference is the same as a charlady and a french polisher - both of them will clean your furniture for you :P

I was expecting something else
(yep my mind is always in the gutter)

I wouldn't go near them, but this sort of thing is personal choice and what you want.
They are typical high volume car washers in multi storey car parks, cleaning down the car with a bucket of water and gravel, and a leather.

Seen then in a couple of places and they are perfect for people with company cars, no real pride or no time/inclination to do it themsleves, so if you want a wash and vacuum they are as good as any of them.

Ok, I took my car in yesterday and was persuaded by the fact that they always seem to have Porsches, Ferraris, etc waiting to be cleaned too and they are in a very expensive car park etc, but I've learnt my lesson..

For £35, what I got was a clean car, with a smeary dash and steering wheel (presumably the type of dash cleaner they used), a shiny but only polished exterior (you actually have to pay an etra 20 for waxing rather than just a polish), and now after waking up this morning, I've found that while they washed the hood, they didn't actually get out the bird crap which hasn't shifted at all.. I spent almost all of a theatre production last night thinking how I'm going to clean the smearyness off the dash. My leather seats now don't feel soft but smeary/harder too, presumably due to the cheap cleaning crap they've used :x

So after conceding that there must be a *huge* difference between a naff valet and proper detailing, could you please tell me how I can get this crap off my dash so that its matt clean without smearness and what do you recommend for the seats?? I need convincing its not ruined..

alexman - I'm sorry to hear this and it's a typical strory from these places, but you were warned by a couple of people
You're lucky you got away without any damage to the car from grit in leathers, etc. I doubt they crap they have applied will do any harm, just attract dust with stickiness.

You now have to undo the work they did by having it all cleaned off and rebuilt back through to a good finish inside and outside (Probably wash, clay, polish and then wax.

I suggest you open a specific post on the detailing section, where the specialist will pick up the thread and chip in.
