Anyone running "yellowstuff" pads??

As per title, I am looking on changing my discs soon, probably to EBC USR slotted discs ( quite pricey £289 for fronts) and they recommend the EBC yellowstuff pads.
I want pads that don't produce so much dust as the standard pads are terrible for this! I know the Greenstuff are low dust ( but they say the yellowstuff ( which are recommended for the Z4 Coupe) are medium!?

Anyone actually using them and if so, what do you think of them and is there much less dust than regular pads?
 
Hi, I ran greenstuff pads on my Elise & wouldn't describe them as low dust-apart from that I thought they performed well with plenty of feel.

I used yellows on my old z3m coupe , I never noticed that much less dust but they stopped the car ok around the ring :thumbsup:
 
I've got yellow stuff pads in the front on mine.
I would say they do produce a bit of dust, in fact i'd say about the same amount as the standard pads i had in before, i think they were pagid pads.
They also work at a higher temp and I've done a track day with mine and still had them smoking :roll:
They also need a little warming up before you feel like you have a good pedal, not a lot but when you first use them from cold you just feel like you have to press on the pedal a tad harder.

+1 for the Textar e-pads although as far as stopping power goes remember any e-marked road pad MUST perform within 15% of OEM in a range of performance criteria, so any so called gains may be hard to detect and will involve a compramise i.e better fade resistance Vs instant cold bite.

Although high ceramic 'low dust' pads will still produce some dust the low iron content means it doesn't stick so much and cleans off easiliy. It's the hot iron particles that burn on and are hard to shift.
 
If you want low dust and aren't tracking your car, try the Redstuff pads. They are ceramic and truly low dust. I use them on a couple of cars and intend to fit them to my Z4MC.

If you do track the car, you may need different pad, though. They are quite fade resistant but under race conditions I'd look elsewhere.
 
I have used YellowstuffR pads and Turbogroove discs for about 5 years now. A couple of trackdays every year. Works great! :thumbsup:
 
I use yellow stuff, over the last 10,000 miles I do find them a lot less dusty but I do seal my wheels so I'm guessing the dust wont stick.

I had yellowstuff on my old Z and definitely a lot more dust than the OEM pads they replaced, much better braking though....

They are great pads if you want extra stopping power when warm but not for you if you are looking for low dust....

Maybe just forget the low dust thing and clean yur car more :poke:

Interesting someone mentioned getting Redstuff pads instead. I thought of these originally but EBC seem to have gone a bit quiet on them so thought perhaps they've been superceded . They only seem to recommend yellowstuff for the Z4.

As for cleaning the car more- I already do far too much of that on the coupe, along with detailing so, that's why I am so bugged by brake dust the next day!

Nice. They look very much like EBC USR slotted discs! 8)
 
Im currently using them and had oem mintex before the yellow stuff. The breaking from cold is oem and is superb when up to temp. The dusting is terrible if driven hard, my wheels get caked in brake dust immediately after a some very enthusiastic driving but under normal driving its similar to oem. Ive sealed my wheels and clean them once a week anyway so cleaning them is a breeze.
 
GreenStuff not worth using, and Yellow give about as much dust as any other regular pad. For me the sweet spot is the Redstuff compound which is ceramic and is low dust. Better initial grip than stock pads as well. Use them on some of my other cars and am considering them for the Z4M.

If you track your car, you will want more, though, Yellowstuff or otherwise.
 
As said above Yellow great pads - but only last me 8,000 miles - but do create lots of dust - but good on discs. Reds are better than OEM and create much less dust.
