Anyone reworked 35i exhaust to sound like 35iS

Has anyone converted their 35i exhaust to sound like a 35iS exhaust. I believe the only difference is the extra sound deadening in the back boxes, so if you cut them open and remove some of the stuffing do you get 35iS sound (extra 10dB's) ??

No idea... but i was lucky enough to need a new exhaust under warranty and they fitted a 35iS exhaust. I wasn't going to moan.. pretty loud.

You lucky thing  What was the problem with the old one?

The emissions flap in the exhaust packed up.

I don't think it's an emissions flap is it? Since once the engine has produced the emissions, it won't make any difference what the exhaust backbox does. It's my understanding it's for less drone/quiet startup. That's why before I changed my exhaust, I disconnected it

Yep, there are times when the 35iS exhaust could do with being switchable.

I want to know what exhaust is fitted to this 35is..

The way the exhaust is configured it seems wrapping the internal pipes produces more noise by preventing exhaust gases escaping into the chamber's sound deadening materials. The e92 M3 exhaust mod leaves the material in place and wraps each bend in the pipes to produce progressively more noise. So you can have a 'one pipe' wrap for more noise but not too loud, up to a 'fourpipe' for all hell to break loose.

The only issue I would be worried about is the 35I being a turbo engine and messing about with back pressures. No idea if this might compromise performance or even damage the engine long term.
