Anyone retrimmed the silver bits in leather ?

Following on a bit from the carbon wrapping theme; I have found some carbon leather available from an automotive leather supplier..... trouble is it's 1.6 mm thick. The retrimmer I discussed this with yesterday is slightly worried that the additional thickness might make it difficult to put back the panels in the car...

Any experience on here of retrimming the dash ?

i would be iterested in this, i ordered some samples yesterday from a couple of different places.

the question is whether the trim on an individual Z4 uses a different interior piece or whether it is just the silver one recovered....

I might give Joe at sopers a call....

srhutch replaced his with the OEM carbon one. He may know?

I'd also be interested in this, so please keep us updated on how it goes.

Where have you sourced the leather?

posted this in the carbon wrapping section... someone on M3 cutters has used these guy's to retrim an E46 M3 ...http://www.topgrainhides.co.uk/... he reckons £150 for half a hide.

The thread is below....

below is the result he obtained....having reread the thread he needed to use his dremmel to make it fit ..........eek....

need to find a good retrimmer ... contacted one yesterday but he is only prepared to covered pieces once removed from the car...

what price are the OEM pieces i imagine 500 quid +.....

as it said in that thread it is quite thick. as a result you might have to dremmel out things like the sport button, around the vent and head unit and around the fog switch.

if i was you i would consider getting another dash panel just incase things go a little pear shaped

Replaced mine as said with OEM CFL, I couldnt tell you if the panels are the same or not.

I could take some pictures around the vents, radio and light switches so it would be possible to see if there is less of a gap then the brushed ali.

Going to have to order some proper CFL now though for the door pulls, will look and feel much better with the OEM CFL :D
