Anyone painted their back boxes?

Sounds a bit personal asking that :P

I'm thinking of painting mine a matt/satin black, to go someway to hiding them? Its the one thing that I think looks a bit unsightly from the back, those bulbous things hanging down. Observe:

So I'm thinking if they were painted in black, even if its just the rear facing part, it would look a lot better?

Anyone done something similar? Or have opinions on this?

They come painted on the Z3M. I repainted mine as they were tatty, using matt black high temp paint. They'll need a really good clean and then a light sanding or wire brushing to help the paint stick on. They looked loads better when freshly painted. Haven't got a decent pic, but it really tidied up the rear end. Good luck with it.

agreed, i want to paint mine when i get my z. i think it give an unfinished look to the car, very nasty. it's the little details that bring it all together.

go for it and tell us how you get along

Use a scotch brite pad or similar to key paint , ordinary satin or mat spray can paint will be fine .I have used this on a couple of cars to hide back box , no problems over several years use.

With fuel prices the way they are if we were driving them all the while we'd be bankrupt! So next best thing is enjoying making them priddy ;)

I don't mind the fact you can see them. Shows the pipes are actually attached to an exhaust system, and not Lexus style pretenders ;-)

Plastikote high temp silver is good. I used this on a previous car. But the upkeep was monthly! ARSED!
