Anyone own an x3 ?

As the title suggests, does anyone own an x3 on this forum ?
The wife wants a newer car and has been hinting at an x5. I recon the x3 might be better for us as its not so big and fuel consumption is a bit poor on a 4.4 !
Has anybody had any good or bad experience ?

We have a few X3 drivers there, mostly X5 and X6 though.
 
You will find on the xdrivers forum that there are a fair few of us that have a Z4 as well as an X5. Seems to be a popular combination :)
 
Yep. X5 and Z4 are a great combination.

If you're thinking old shape X3 then drive both an X3 and X5. The reviews seem to suggest that the ride isn't that great on the X3.

If you're thinking new shape X3 then i reckon its the same size as an old shape X5, which i beleive is better value. I have a 3.0d old shape (E53) X5 and its way more economical than my 35i E89.

Search for gearbox problems. Seems to come up a lot on the X5. not sure if its an issue on the X3.
 
My wife has the old shape X3 2.0 and she loves it. She has had it for 4 years now with no problems. Get circa 30 MPG.
 
Test drove the 2.0 x3 when replacing our 4x4 last year... Thought the car drove well but the engine sounds reAlly rough on idle and for me some of the interior plastics seem cheap. In comparison a base toureg felt a more quality purchase. In the end we stayed with the green oval and pleased when I read the issues people are having with new E89s.
 
X3 rekoned to be BMW's worst car for a long time.Friends of ours had one, 2.0D, and was forever back in the dealers being repaired for assorted issues. I'd take a 2nd hand X5 anyday.
