From the X5 forum, especially if you have a CD changer you want to get rid off ...

Oooh i want it too; but i havent got a CD changer :( - cheers for the link

Also being in Pinner - around the corner from them....

A big thank you to PVR!

I have been wanting one of these for ages, but being a cheapskate was only willing to pay less then £200 for one!

Finally got one now :trampoline:

Will pick it up from the seller this Thursday as i'm down to see my folks around the corner from him for the long weekend.

There was only one deal, and the CD changer swap requirement was dropped later on.

A big thanks once again to PVR and the X5 seller.

Fitted it this morning - The KCA-420i is a big old box - managed to fit it next to the boot holder bracket so didnt distort the boot carpet. Left my ipod in the boot - as it looks like a lot of effort to get the ipod cable cleanly into the cabin without removing a lot of interior trim and the speakers behind the seats.

Once my eBay USB to serial cable arrives I may tidy up the install (but i probably wont!)

PVR will be along soon with some words of wisdom :poke: , but you might want to take a look at his install as I dont believe he pulled half the car to bits, he gained access through the Sub woofer/cubby hole section I know.

It doesnt take much time though to remove that section of centre trim to do the job properly though :poke:

No hanging about then ...

Normally, my new toys spend about 3 months at least laying on my desk for me to stare at :D

Ahh found his guide now - a few pics missing - but doesnt seem as bad as i expected - looks like a roof down jobbie - may risk it as the sun is almost breaking free now!

Admittedly i did try and remove the center trim door - and failed

Thought i'd take some diy baby steps before i try retrofit the cruise control!

You have to have it here and I will tell you why ...

Unless you use the iPod every day, it will go in "deep sleep" mode meaning you have to wake it up by pressing the iPod button. Bit annoying if you can not reach it.

Also, the Intravee is fully configurable via the PC as you obviously know, so access to it is very useful (i.e. arranging screen etc).

Ahh bugger didnt think of that... The only reason i wanted to have it in the cabin was so that i could easily swap it over with my nano if i had to.

I will have to try a better job of this then!

I'll prob leave the intravee itself in the boot - but will run my 1m usb cable to an easy accessible point so i dont need to pull the carpet back each timei want to play with it!

I don't see how these sell for over £200 when they're only around £245 brand new??
