Anyone know if the back of a Halogen is the same as a Xenon?

Just had an absolute nightmare....

Went to fit my new sidelight bulb... cover off bulb out new bulb in.... Then the bloody back cover of the headlight unit wouldn't go back on

So I have an idea I'll pull the car forward and turn the wheel a bit straighter to get access behind it....

VERY VERY BAD IDEA! The cover fell down an I drove over it and now its ruined!

I do have a spare in my garage at home but its for a prefacelift halogen unit and I need one for a facelift xenon will it fit or am I heading to the staelers

Just called the stealrer and the cut off to order obne in was 12:00 missed it by a minute

Is it safe to drive the car without the headlight cover on, really don't want to risk a knackered headlight...

Tempted to drive my car to the dealer and leave it there overnight so I don't have to drive it in the rain at any point with no cover on the lights is that the best option or am I being paranoid?

It was only £14 so just ordered it, really dont want to risk driving my car without it on unless I have to and have no idea if the one I have is for the driver or passenger side so for the sake of £14 was better just to have it on order.

Any recommendation on what to do with the car I'm guessing its a really bad idea driving without the cover if the roads are wet

if you have a spare just check real oem and see if the part number is the same on a pre facelift as a post facelift with xenons. if they are great!

They are the same. I reckon you'll be alright driving it as long as you steer clear of rain and big puddles. Oh, and as long as you have the arch cover on.

Sorry but I've got to disagree here. Even on a dry road there is a lot of dirt, dust and grit blowing around and the light internals will pick it up in an instant. The loose fitting inspection cover does nothing to stop it. First you'll notice is a dusty inside to the light. On the slightest damp/wet road the whole area is blasted with high pressure mist and the light will get wet quickly.
I'd avoid driving.

I've got a box full of covers and they all look the same to me.

Spare cover I have looks identical to the broken one just a mirror image (it's a passenger side I have spare) so glad I ordered it.

Cars not being driven until the new cover is fitted, the Mrs was a but pissed off having to pick me up from work when my car is "fine" but better to be cautious than paying £700 for a new headlight

Anyway moral of the story is if you need to turn the steering wheel for better access when changing a bulb don't drive forward at the same time!

Or make sure that everything is either back in place, or fully secured before moving. Make sure there is nothing in the way or loose and can fall and get run over.

At least it'll soon be sorted.
