Anyone have experience with Superchips/Remap Kings on an N20 engine?

Booked in for tomorrow but they have phoned me twice now to say are you sure you want to go ahead as this engine is quite fragile when you remap it? I get they are covering themselves - no warranty, customer to sign disclaimer, etc.

Any thoughts on this?

Their remap takes it to around 270bhp. they say the piston failure can happen to the N20 whether it's remapped or not. but then they would say that. i suppose the point is they are saying there is absolutely no warranty from them if it does fail. they reckon it happens to about 0.5% of N20 engines?

Sounds like you’ve got a pretty good margin there, you won’t be holding it flat out for long don’t forget :driving:

I had them do mine 2 years ago. Never had a waiver to sign, they didn't mention any potential problems TBH. Mine has been fine (so far)! :)

I was driving down the M11 in it yesterday. I remember thinking about the additional torque. At 70mph in 6th (around 2500rpm), put your foot down a bit and it just pulls like a train.

Piston failure is sometimes caused by a tune that runs too lean ..turbo engines need quite a complex map with lots of richness as revs n power goes up…

I’d go somewhere else who is better qualified on the N20 engine

They did mine 18 months ago and I don't remember any disclaimers being mentioned.

Very happy with the results.

Sounds like maybe they've had a problem and it's cost them a bit, so now they are ass-covering to the extreme.
