Anyone had their nose re-set after break?

Wondering if anyone on here has had any nose surgery after a break?

Managed to break mine pretty good playing rugby on Saturday. The physio at the club straightened it as best she could but as the bone has come through the side there wasn't much she could do. Has been stitched up and is temporarily fixed but have an appointment on Friday for a specialist to look at it.

So far i have been told they might re-set it under local anesthetic, though im not sure how much i like the idea of that. I certainly don't fancy being aware of whats going on regardless of whether i can feel it or not. I didn't much like when the physio did it, but was so high on adrenaline i didn't think much to it, plus she caught me off guard!

Any thoughts/advice?

:worthless:

You've gotta love an injury pic
Monkey's one where he sliced his shins off was pretty good, and Pezza's bang to his baldy nappa was nice too!

Ouch

Local anaesthetic and close your eyes. I'd have headphones in and music playing too. You bust it playing a man's sport, don't go all footballer now

Haha fair comment Bing, though i still won't look forward to it.

Worst thing is we got absolutely stuffed 46-10 so wasn't even worth it. So far this season i have done 2 ribs, hamstring twice and now my nose. One could say im injury prone, or just getting old and frail, lol.

oooh nasty! :punch:

Bingy: I once broke a nail playing football, luckily someone had some clippers in their wash bag.....catastrophe averted!

I had mine set under full anesthetic. Never been 100% the same afterwards though so breathing at night is "different".

That looks pretty sore, OP. I broke mine a few years back, also rugby injury. First match of the season, broken nose and two bust ribs. My last game though as I retired from playing after that game - too old, too slow, and took too long to heal. :)

Good luck with the new nose - picked one yet? (sorry, couldn't resist....)

I coach now, U16s currently, I live the game through my squad - we had a 43-17 win yesterday :D

Tried playing again a few years ago, didn't break anything, but I was covered in impact bruises and it took me two weeks to recover

Must've been a proper hardcore match - you brave, brave boy :P

I also went into coaching & managing initially. Ended up being unable to put the time in after I left the military, so stopped - still miss it. Now purely an armchair critic!

Injury was probably caused trying to scratch someones eyes out...

Ouch that looks so painful,

Feel your pain lux, I hate breaking a nail, specially those ones that break deep down

To be honest it's not yet been at all painful. Bit of a head/neck ache on the day but got on the cocodamol and some morphosol (i think they called it) and been pain free ever since, lol.

Do quite like the idea of coaching, or at least playing vets rugby which is once a month instead of every week. Less chance of injury i guess due to statistics.

That looks very painful (even though you say not).

Personally I'm just finishing a course of physio on my, ahem, "groin" after being thrown from my horse back in September. Didn't look half as dramatic as your nose, but sure was bloody painful & taken a long time to sort out.

Hope all goes well Friday & you get no further problems

ouch, if your lucky they may even set it so its smaller lol

 I was waiting for that

Still been playing the game 20 years so done well to get this far. Best part about it was my mothers comment..."Well son, it wasn't that great to start with".

Thanks mum!

I will take some comfort in that all/most the people on here will be paying for my nose job. Gotta love the NHS at times :P
