Anyone ever taken their Z to Santapod?

I've parked there when we had a Zed meet last year - does that count?

Santa Pod.
They have lots of RWB (run wot you brung) meets throughout the year - it's great fun.
Just one small wee point you should know - Drag Racing is about 16 times more addictive than Heroin and about 50 times more expensive.
I have lots of friends who race there right from street classes through to top fuel - and they all have one thing in common
they are broke
One friend in particular lives are fairly normal existance but has a 200 grand car which costs at least 30 grand a year to run ....... he started at a RWB meet. Got another friend at the other end who has a '95 Suzuki motorcycle which he races - he's spent over 15 grand on bits already
Wheel hop is when the rear wheels start bouncing (hopping) whilst they are trying to grip just one of the joys ......
............ but don't let me put you off, get yer arse down there and make a few runs ..... and on your way home you can start thinking about how you will go faster next time ...... just need to alter this, change that ........

Went to the BMW show at Santa Pod. Total chav-fest. :thumbsdown:

Sadly I agree with you that it was a horrendous place once you took a step away from the strip. Campsites full of fighting kids, fairground rides and tacky cafe's, etc. If it were not for a lot of nice Bimmers and some neat stuff on track I'd not have gone home in an hour.

I've taken mine and it was a great day. It's a dump and you will be surrounded by chavs in saxo's but worth it for some timed runs. It really feels bad for the car and I wouldn't go back soon but would recommend it once.
Just to clarify I have been to Santapod a few times. Only done three runs before all in the modded TT.

Pod was a washout today.
Didn't rain all day, but moisture seaping up through the strip kept it closed for over four hours. Nice to catch up with people as there was over 40 cars there (TT Club - previous car) as well some more exotic stuff.
Bit of a wasted day but can't moan as it is to be expected in January I guess.

I've been to Santa Pod loads of times and it's always a good day out. Yes you do get some chavs but that's to be expected. Always found there to be a nice mix of all different cars. I've been to RWYB's, night time specials and different types of shows. Always had a good laugh.

Yeah ive been a few times in all my cars - started with the VW ones as many have already said!
Seat Ibiza TDI = 14.73 @ 93mph and fried the clutch trying a 2nd gear launch!
VX220 NA (At ~160bhp) = 14.0 @ 97 and knackered the engine mount on its first and only run! Should have easily seen 13's
Z4 3.0i = 13.97 @ 99.5 = Took it like a champ, was both extatic/gutted I broke/failed the 13's/100's
Must agree, its a complete hole chav fest. Best days are the Dragster and standard RWYB days though for a nice mix in entertainment. Once saw a top fueller shear its wheel on the lauch, catapulting it into the wall on the start - scary and exciting stuff!
