Ooooch ! this could spoil your day , also notice within the article that the long talked about exchange between euro countries of traffic offences appears to be getting closer

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-2628014/Spains-draconian-new-driving-laws-mean-youll-FINED-400-going-JUST-1km-speed-limit.html

Reading more recent comments re the article from a knowlegeable ex-pat in Spain seems to indicate the Mail headline is well er... a headline grabber. If the 'facts' stated by the Spanish resident are true, the article is just another Mail scare headline with barely a nod to accuracy.

Come try me in an English court & present the evidence there if not stopped in the country.

Would be interesting to see them prove it was my vehicle & not someone with false plates... load of doggy danglers if u ask me

Not so much the exchange between countries more the on the spot fines for a mere 1km over the limit :o
I have been stopped on the spot in France & i felt like i,d been carjacked ! I was stopped , berated & relieved of 90 euros cash at the roadside in a matter of minutes ,
pi55ed me off but didn,t spoil my day  400 euros on the other hand would have  .

Just emailed the link to my parents who are permanent residents in Spain. My father was aware of these measures coming into force. Once they have been voted upon he says that they will become law with immediate effect. He also thinks that because of a UK opt out any points that are incurred there are not transferable to a UK licence but as I say this is what he thinks. Also 1km over the speed limit could only be head line grabbing by the Daily Mail, surely?
When he told me about these laws being proposed a couple of weeks ago he also said that not only does it apply to radar detectors but also to Sat Navs that show camera positions etc. and it will be an offence to act on the information provided by them in regards camera sites etc.
His final comment in his email was "Just have to obey the rules, my days of enjoying fast driving on largely empty Spanish motorways is now at an end, had a good time whilst it lasted, it's going to be so boring." This is a little sad to hear from him as he still likes to go "Harry Flatters" in his 335d coupe. P.S He also said that he has now removed his radar detector.

My last near death experience was in a Spanish taxi, the only bit I could understand of what he was saying was Fernando Alonzo
