I'm going to be in St Moritz in Switzerland in July, and fancy driving the famous Stelvio Pass ... does anyone have any hints / tips? ... does it matter which direction you drive it in (ie towards Bormio or away from it)? Cheers :driving:

I was there last September on a european roadtrip with a friend. Its an awesome place. The iconic switchback hairpin-straight, hairpin zigzag is the north side. You've got to do both, but tbh I preferred the approach from the south, lots of good long sighted fast sweepers, and the scenery is terrific.

If you have chance to explore a little, I'd try to take in the San Bernadino pass too and San Gottardo, as for me theyre even better than Stelvio (and alot quieter). If I had to pick just one, it'd be the San Bernadino every time.

Thanks inTgr8r, that video of Blacklines' was great ... hopefully when we go in July there will be less snow about ... and it will be better for taking photos! :D

Didn't Clarkson, May and the Hampster drive this - it looked awesome. For our American/Canadian brethern the aforementioned trio present a UK show called Top Gear - most humourous!

Here's something to wait for :). Pics from couple of years ago when visiting with M6. No matter which way, just drive bothsides and stop at the top to enjoy the scenery.
