Anyone beat £157 for 2.5si insurance, I just renewed.

Just renewed my insurance with Direct line, one years NCD and limited 5k miles. £157. I thought that a great price.
Can anyone beat it. The advisor told me that BMW Z4's are some of the cheapest sports cars to insure even though they have a high group rating.

The agent told that it doesn'r get any cheaper than that, he mentioned a base premium and told me when I have two years NCH next year it probably wouldn't go down any more.
 
I'll need to check. Think mine was £159 last year and went down to £157.

Still a great deal for insurance.

We have a multi car policy for the two cars and it's the same price for both.

By changing the insurance company last year we saved about £1400 as we were being ripped off big time!
 
£135 on a 2.5SE, 'mature' driver, full NCB, £200 Excess, Somerset village, low risk occupation, garaged, wife on policy. I was disappointed as I had it below £100 a couple of years ago! :D
 
Here's some pointless info based on the Insurance costs.

So it turns out that the Insurance per BHP.....

3.0 SI £0.602 per bhp
M £0.604 per bhp
E89 35i £0.628 per bhp
2.5 SI £0.734 per bhp
2.0 SE £0.918 per bhp

So man maths says an M is 30% better value to insure than a 2.0, sounds like a convincing argument to lay on Mrs E :lol:

1 years NCD and only £157? my insurer wouldn't even insure me with 1 years NCD (tesco). I passed all their other criteria. I guess that's the cost of using public transport to get to work and being a named driver until the year before I got the zed.

it would be helpful I think if people posted their age too. I'm not particularly young at 30 but I'm guessing most on here have a few years on me.

FYI I'm paying around £550 for a 3.0i, 12K miles, on road parking in a decent area.
 
I got my 3.0 added to my motor trade policy, which does not have HP (high performance) cover, for FREE... Does that count? :evil:

Bearing in mind that it covers the Zed, 2 other cars, 1 van AND my R1, I think that works out rather good value, based on the last renewal of £925...

I'm 55 years old and have 5 points from a CD20 four years ago, I have maximum NCD on my other car. I don't use the cars for work, car is kept on the drive and my wife is a named driver. I hope this helps.

maximum NCD on 1 car and not the other? how does that work?

i thought if you have 5 years NCD that means you can get 5 years NCD on multiple cars. is that not the way it works and you have separate ones for separate number of cars?

Having never claimed on my main car/policy, so I have maximum NCD.
On the Z, I started a new/separate policy and have to earn NCD.

Hold on you only drive your Z4 less than 5000 miles per year? no wonder its so cheap. I guess location adds to a better quote as well try living in a big city with high crime rate. The cheapest I get is £400 and thought I was winning that's with 6yrs protected NCB too......lol
