Denis, I actually went to see Tommy Emmanuel in Belfast a few years back, always liked his guitar playing, but his show actually ruined it all for me. It was really just a 2 hour session of self absorbed guitar wanking. Met him afterwards and he seemed as up himself as the show indicated. I was hugely disappointed. At that stage he was touring with a guy named Andy McKee, who is an awesome guitarist and was a thoroughly likeable fella.
Steve Vai is technically awesome, but I've never been his biggest fan. As with everything in music, it's all about differing tastes and opinions. I've never heard Antonio Forcione, will have to give him a listen!

I will definitely look in to the Yamaha THX amps Wildfire. I really ought to get something with a nice sound and decent output to do the guitars justice! Mandolin is a great choice! There are 3 in our house. We have an electro-acoustic one, a very old bowl one and an Italian one made my a fairly well known mandolin maker whose name escapes me.
