Any group buy on Smart Top E89

Finally decided to get one....coming in at just over £300 each....has anyone looked at a group buy? If not is anyone else interested in one, so we can see how much we can get it for?
 
Ok I'll email them tomorrow and get some numbers down. I'm on holiday at the moment and not munch else to do, so will see what comes back :thumbsup:
 
I had a go at this about 2 years ago. I hope you have more luck with it than I did :lol:

Just spoken with my service guy at my local dealer and he said they may be able to code all of the bits in, depends on the software version installed in the car apparently. He said to just bring it in and they will plug it in to see if it can be done and if it can, it will just be £50 to reprogram it. The main thing i'm after is being able to close the roof and fold the mirrors.

Might be worth trying out a dealer first, £50 is a lot better than £300 and it won't void any warrantees etc
 
My dealer tried very hard to do this last year! All I wanted was to close the roof from the fob but the software installed after the anti theft upgrade has securely locked out this feature.

I have used a firm in Reading and they said it can't be done. They turned by DVD player on to work whilst driving....but that's all they could do.

Before anyone blasts me, no I don't watch telly whilst driving!
 
ah that's a shame. I'll go down there anyway and see if they can do anything. He said they get a load of 3 series convertibles come in with the same request, did they not get the same security update?
 
No - because you can't hear the voices with the roof down :D

Not sure if a blue movie would go down very well in a traffic jam with the roof down 8)
 
Fitted one of these last weekend. Took less than 30 minutes and worked first time after following this forums installation tips. You can get them on Amazon for £285.

The mirrors need to be the electric folding mirrors, I assume you have these and can fold these in with the button, if not there is nothing that can be done to sort this. To get these to work with the fob that would need a re wiring. The roof closing with the fob is only available via the comfort access. Easy way for the dealer to make £50, they know they can't do it and are taking the p*ss knowing you don't know that. I'd change my dealer if I were you.

They won't take it in and check it for free.
 
I have electric folding mirrors. He did say they would only charge if they actually do the coding, won't charge anything to look at it to see if it can be done. As they're literally 3 minutes away I won't lose anything popping down there but it sounds like it can't be done anyway so i'll be needing a smarttop.
 
It was on there for that price a month or so ago. Ppcgb has a branch not far from me, will give them a go.
