Anti hijack and clicking

Hi guys,

So. The car is awesome but I have two queries!

Firstly. Is it possible to get anti hijack arranged on the car? My 10 year old S3 had this and I was surprised to see the zed didn't :|

My second thing is. When I have stopped after a journey and I turn off the ignition i can hear a rapid clicking for like 10 seconds. Does anyone know what it is? I also heard it a few times getting inti the car!

I am deaf so I'm not the best person to accurately describe the sound :lol:

I did a search on boyhood of these and didn't find anything :-)

By anti hijack do you mean the doors automatically locking themselves after a few seconds/after reaching a certain speed?

If so then yes. Its a programmable option, in South Africa its enabled as standard. My doors lock when I get in the car and reach +-10kmh. Just ask your dealer to program it for you

Dealer probably won't do it or charge a fortune for the privilege.
Find a good indy with Autologic or similar and you'll find there are all kind options such as the auto locking doors, beep on lock and open and even lowering & raising the roof disabled by the factory that can be initiated for about £25, Pete in Telford (if you do a search he has been mentioned several times on here along with his details) has done several cars for forum members including myself, it takes about 10 minutes.
 
Just to correct that it can be done at dealers too. Part of the standard set of programmable features.

I believe it's labelled as auto lock on drive off.

Indy is of course cheaper and both can run you through dozens a whole list of other things to do too
 
Might be worth the trek over to Telford. What do you mean by raising and lowering of the roof Richard?

programmed to work using the key not just the button inside the car

cj10 never said dealers definately won't do it, just there seems to be more posts on the forum stating dealers have met the requests with some reluctance quoting health & safety etc, or they have charged for each individual thing programmed whereas certainly Pete will activate whatever you require for a one off price.

Although the reprogramming of the key works it is a little sensitive to your position relative to the car as to whether it will work or not and whether anyone else is trying to do the same thing at the same time the module just makes the task a little bit more robust and works by pressing the open or close button 3 times whereas the reprogram option you have to keep the button pressed.
 
My roof only works when the engine is on and off. Does that mean with reprogramming I can actually open my roof with my key as I walk to the car?

:rofl: when your engine is on and off? is it like some kind of quantum engine where it can be both at the same time too :poke:
 
Richard: Not sure why any dealer would baulk at programming the lock on drive off. It's a standard feuature on their list of approved customer preferences. I've posted my list a few times. Roof down absolutly - they can't do it. As for cost - for sure they seem to see the ££ sign and make up silly prices for some enquiries


Others:
The reprogramming of the key to open the roof still uses the same key. Doesn't matter if it's reprogramming by dealer/indy or a remote module.

Until recently the Autologic could only progremme later cars (or so it seems to have been reported), but in the last year or so it appears they have found out how to do it on all ages of Zed.

Frankly the remode modules are no longer required, but if for any reason you visit a dealer and they recode it out, then you have to pay to do it again wheras the module is independant.

I use a Rheinhold module and it's been faultless for 3 years now
 
I have the autolock enabled on my car... always confuses passengers who are not used to bmw's as they have to pull the handle twice to get out of the car!!

I also have my car programmed to raise the roof from the key (car came from the factory with the roof drop from the key enabled) You have to hold the lock button on the key fob to raise it...And i find it tempremental at best.. sometimes it will stop half way even if i dont move, and keep my finger on the lock button....
The remote module is much better... 3 clicks of the lock button and walk away, without holding a button; and worrying about it stopping half way through.
