How bizarre - guess these things are dealer specific. 2 groups have it at my dealership: Sales who print it out and complete it for every new sale to ensure the first code is free and set to customer requirements, secondly service who have it on their system.

Well it was service I spoke to who had no idea and I fully expect not to get a call back. If they can fax/e-mail it whats your local dealer and I'll try them?

Ryedale Sutton Coldfield, Now Sytner BMW 0121 308 9000 Just called them on your behalf and they knew about it (after putting me through to the wrong guy first, but hey this is BMW). Speak to a service advisor and ask for the 'Car Key Memory Options' form. They obviously cannot speak for non Sytner dealers but said ask for the form then you'd just need to book it in to get your selected options set :)

Thanks for that! Much to my suprise I did get a call back from my dealer... however I have to "make an appointment to get my key/ecu read" to get the list - that will cost me £40 then its £5 per item I want re-programmed! I'll give Sytner a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Mecca indicator????

That is odd. Seems like you'd have to have the GPS nav. I don't know how it would work otherwise.

But I have Sat Nav and as posted before the list is highly dependant upon model, year and market. I suspect this would not be on the list for a non sat nav car, or if it is simply not selectable.

Can I call any dealer and get the list? Will they need to check out my car first before they can tell which options I have? I presume it's not something they can get from the registration or VIN?

I can see no reason why not. All are on the same BMW system. Just quote your Registration or better still VIN.

Please don't all call Sytner SC - that would not be fair. They were just kind enough to tell me the detail and say how easy it is to do.

I was under the impression the dealer has plug your car in to see what options are available to you & what is already programmed... could have been the dealer spinning me a line though! Neverless made no difference to me as my car was already with them.

I called Sytner BMW SC this morning and they knew what I was talking about, took my details and called me back. I thought I was onto something, however when they called me back they told me the same as my local dealer, they need to hook the car upto the diagnostics kit and check to get me a printed list, and they wanted to charge me £50 for the pleasure. Looks like this list isn't as readily available as its made out to be....

Just a shame I did not keep my paperwork else I would have posted the original form to prove it's existence and ease. All I can do is point you to the print out above, relay my experience and hope it helps. Perhaps having been a Ryedale (now Sytner) customer for 7 years I get things sorted smoothly. Incedentally I was quoted £18 last time, they then gave me a £40 bill and of course they accepted £18.

£18 is a bit more reasonable I feel. Its something I'd like to get done and a few things changed, but at £40-£50 plus re-programming costs its not top of my purchasing list!

After visiting my local BMW Specialists last night they said if I popped in on a Sat morning they'd go through the list with me and change anything I wanted changing for a grand total of £35 which I feel is a reasonable cost. I just need to read my manual/cross reference your list and decide what I want programming now...

That sounds more realistic than some of the dealers.
Don't forget to take all your keys and then you can have them set for individual preferences.

Hi!

I have a 2005 UK car and the doors lock as I pull away.

It might a programing thing when I went to see one the roof didn't go down using the key while the dealer was demonstrating  after a bit of red face told me they can program the key!

The doors locking are a programmable feature. The remote roof down is only programmable on 2006 onwards, but pre-2006 you can be a module from rheinhold (sp) in Germany that will allow remote roof open/closure. Well worth the money! Try ebay first.
