Another VW convert...

Hi peoples im new here, just thought id pop a quick post up as to my intentions. Ive been involved in the VW car scene for long time now and i feel its time to grow up somewhat after a string of performance VW's. Ive had a show condition mk2 16v, VR6 Highline, Audi S3, an R32 engined mk3 golf and a 4dr small bumper E reg 1.6 auto CL (best one!) plus a small dabble into the world of Alfa's.

Anyway, Im looking for a Z4 coupe, and before anybody sends me a link to their for sale thread ive already seen them, ive been lurking this forum for months but i thought id do the decent thing and join up.

Hi and Welcome.

Don't fancy an M Coupe? Prices are only a little dearer and if you get the right milaged example (around 20-25k), which has just had an inspection I serivce done it won't be that much more to run (IMO anyways) as the next big service is around 25-30k miles (Inspection II).

I will do approx 3-4000 miles a year in it (2nd car) so running cost isnt a massive issue, its more of a comfort thing i suppose. Ive read a lot on here that the M has a pretty crashy ride/heavy clutch, plus if im brutally honest i dont really want to spend more than 15-16k. Ooh, also insurance is about 400 quid more, which is a lot on a 2nd car.

I must admit, it is pretty tempting though.

One recently got sold for just above your budget. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1916941.htm

I'm sure another one will come up. There's another one for £16,750, but no sat nav.

I think for £400 it is honestly worth it. I would test drive both a 3.0Si and M and see if it's worth it for you.

I have a 3.0si Sport Coupe mate, and can honestly say that it`s BRILLIANT !!

I`ve owned all sorts, but I really love this car, and I can`t imagine how you`d ever need any more really, certainly for the road anyway. If you intend tracking the car then yes, if you can run to the M then it`s the one to have, but for the road I don`t think you`ll be found wanting in the 3.0si, as it absolutely flies, and handles like a dream.

Again, maybe it`s a case of test-drving both, as it`s the only sure-fire way of being able to decide for yourself, but it you DO drive the 3.0si in isolation, you won`t be sorry ! 8)

I've come from an Audi TT on coilovers and found the ride on the M quite pleasant. lol

Won't be worst than a mk2 golf

Ive just put a deposit on a 56 montego blue sport coupe with 16.5k on the clock, nav, xenon, bluetooth and loads more.
