Another TPMS question

The other night I got a worried call from the better half as a dash light had come up red on the M5.[EDIT - the motorway M5, not the car!] Also she said she felt it was pulling to the left a bit (though I put that down to using lane 1 and being dragged by the truck trenches).

Car is an 06 Z4MC.

After diagnosing what it was ("the one like a horseshoe with a crinkly bottom") she got an RAC bloke at the services to look at the tyres and they were all OK.

I checked the tyre pressures the day after and they were fine, +\- 1 psi from where they were set. However I noticed that the outside shoulder of the front nearside tyre had bubblegum/snot type bits of rubber on it, as though the car had been trackdayed.

I reset the light and took the car out and there is a slight tendency for the steering to go to the left if the wheel is left free at 60-ish mph down the crown of a fairly smooth a-road, not a pull as such but more that over the ripples the wheel gradually turns slightly to the left. Apparently at late evening M5 speeds this is more noticeable.

I pulled in and felt the tyres and both fronts felt the same temp with the centre warm and the edges quite cool (and both warmer than the rear).

The light didn't come back on, but I only did about 6 miles.

Any suggestions?

Get a full wheel alignment done. Sounds very odd almost a little dangerous as described. If it is overheating the tyre that is. The light comes on when the ecu senses the wheels rotating at different speeds.

Its not unknown for z4 m's to "pull" slightly to the left......but can still show as being ok,or in other words,it can still feel like this after alignment has just been done. Apparently a wee trait of the m's?! As said, could be faulty sensor,or if reset and all ok then just a temporary pressure differences felt or speed rotation as pet buzyg's advice. Happened to me a couple of times in 2 different z's in past 10years,lol
