Another Retrofit Heated Seats Question

I've trawled through a lot of posts in recent days but can't seem to find the exact answer or rather some posts seem to say one thing and other posts another thing!

I have a April 2004 Z4 with manual seats. If I were to get some Heated Seats would it be a simple case of remove the old seats and then simply plug the new ones in and get a centre console section with heat control?

I saw one post the other day (http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24819), which seemed straight forward until the bit about the sensor cable :?

Also, if it is straight forward would I have to get pre-facelift seats or or would pre or post be okay?

I fitted some post facelift M :roll: :lol: sport seats to mine the other day,I have a pre facelift.If you follow that route you will need to fit a small bit of kit to fool the seat occupancy sensor in the passenger seat.
You can buy it for about £11 on eBay.
If you are looking for some heated memory electric sport seats in beige leather.i have a pair you can have for £250,these are from a 2005 pre facelift that's done 60k VGC

Thanks for this. Wouldn't the kit to fool the sensor be a little dangerous i.e. airbags might not go off if it thinks there's nobody sitting in the passenger seat?

Any idea why that's needed and why you can't just do a straight swap of non-heated to heated seats?

The emulator fools the occupancy sensor into thinking the seat is occupied .
You only need this if you are fitting post seats to a pre facelift car,as the seat belt sensor is different .The heated part of the seat is the same.
If you wanted a cheap fix,you could just change the seat base and the leather covers

Yes just make sure the wiring is in place.The wires for the drivers side are coloured Green/Purple. Brown.Grey if that's any help.

Just to clarify for you - the pre-facelift cars will be pre-wired for the heated seats, in other words they will have the heated seat wiring looms in place ready for 'plug and play' (as you know, you'll need the centre switch console)

Also, if I found some electric seats would they also just be plug and play with my existing wiring?
