Hi guys,
Not many of you will remember my "newbie" post a week or two ago but a quick recap - I was looking for a Z4M Coupe with a fairly decent spec, less than 60k mileage for less than 20 grand.
Well I almost made it - just over 20 grand for a 55k miler but minus a few of the toys I would've liked (extended leather, folding mirrors, cargo nets). I didn't want SatNav or dash material options (I'm probably in the minority but I really like the brushed finish dash particularly with the body colour - which was my preferred choice). BTW, does anyone know the name of the silver? I know I can check the paint code but it's all wrapped-up what with the weather!
It's got genuine CSL wheels with new Micheline Pilot Super Sports all round, new disks all round and a decent Service History with an Inspection II 3 thousand miles ago (albeit in 2017).
The 2 negatives are:
That it was the first car I viewed (I know it doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't the car to buy but I've a nagging doubt that I should have viewed more).
and
I'm the 8th owner (which doesn't matter too much if I'm going to keep the car but......).

What are your thoughts? Did I get a good deal?
Would appreciate your comments.

Stunning looking car, but of course I’d say that

There aren’t that many of these cars around, so going for the first one i wouldn’t say is a bad thing to do when you were especially after that colour combo!

Seems a really good price if you ask me ... insp 2, discs and good rubber all alone are over 2k! So that’s great piece of mind. So it’s possibly due an oil change at the most?

The issue with number of owners comes up a lot about these cars on here. I can’t see any issues with owners... it’s common with impractical sports cars; this usually seems to be the general consensus on here too! It seems you’ve got the mileage, service history and condition - definitely supersede owners.

Enjoy !

Have to agree with Tom , great car , wouldn't worry over number of owners & the ins2-brake spend is in your favour .
Gen CSLs add some kudos 8) the head unit would have to be replaced if it was me though :(
Welcome to the forum

Well first off, welcome to MC ownership!

I'm pretty sure your car is Silver Grey, but if you put the last 7 characters of the VIN into one of the free decoding sites you'll find out for sure. It certainly goes well with red seats, although I may be a little biased.

From what I have seen lately I think the price was reasonable, and buying the 1st one isn't necessarily a bad thing if it is exactly what you wanted - the UK only got about 600 M Coupes so they aren't exactly everywhere! Coincidentally I'm also the 8th owner of mine, but that doesn't seem unusual given that they aren't usually daily drivers.

I hope you get it unwrapped soon then you can put some miles on it. :driving:

Really nice colour combo. Agree with the above about reverting to the OEM stereo.

What does the extended leather option consist of? Was it also available on the roadsters?

I missed the part about the CSLs being genuine also, being wrapped in the super sports. Same combo as mine there also ... more good trinkets for the price !!! I like the super sports when it’s dry and warm ... but they’re a bit sketchy in the wet, and definitely cold roads!

I think it gave you leather sun visors/door cards/roll hoops/dashboard, available on roadsters as well :?

Not dashboard, but centre trans tunnel and centre rear storage panel.

Wow, just popped out to walk the dog and I've got all these replies - Thanks guys.

Yes, I think I'm really happy - I can't wait to start driving and spending money on it. I've already put on some BMW M dust caps as they were all missing (I wonder how long these will last!!).

You're right about the head unit of course but at least I've got the original - it says it's a "business CD" - anyone know what that means?
Dealer offered to re-install it but I thought wait to see what features the replacement unit has - I do know it's got DAB, does the original unit have that or was it too early?
Also, not sure if it's related (and I haven't really had a chance to play with everything yet) but would that have any detrimental effect on the on board computer/inspection display? I've just got dashes in there at the moment but as I say, I haven't really had a chance to have a proper look.

Once again, thanks.

If it’s the display that’s within the dials, is that just where the clock needs setting ?

Could be Tom as I say, I haven't really had time to look although I thought I could view the inspection interval there too but nothing changed when I pressed the "right hand button".
\don't worry, I'm sure it's just me :o

I think to toggle the display, you press one of the stalk ends ... indicator side possibly? I I can’t think now, I need to use mine more

The mileage to the next service appears briefly when you start the car then reverts to the other functions, time, outside temperature, average speed, average mpg (best ignored) and fuel range. I might not have got them in the right order though.

You toggle through them by pressing the end of the indicator stalk.

I think the Business CD is the standard stereo head unit and sadly it won't have DAB as that doesn't seem to have been an option, which might be why it got changed.

There may be a BMW head unit with DAB that would fit - the previous owner of my 55 plate 3 Series fitted a DAB one to it and it looks original.

The BMW dust caps on my previous E86 didn't last a week, but so far the "M" ones on my current car have managed nearly 6 months - maybe the locals realise adding M badges to non-Ms is a no-no!

I collected my M from Rutland (140 miles away) on a cold, wet December day and as Tom says MPSS tyres aren't too good in those conditions. But on a warm, dry day they work really well.
