Well pleased at my Zed's second year of MOT pass at it's first attempt today at local ex bmw indie. I did get some new rear discs and pads (EBC redstuff) fitted as scheduled and treated him to a new set of Bosch wiper blades.

A little less pleased to be told that my rear tyres were getting on a tad, though I think at 3.5mmm they're OK for a while - heck they've only done about 7000 enthusiastic miles - Vredestein Ultra Sessantas - which I do love for both dry and wet grip.

I measured them myself later and they are at 3.5 which i know is a little off the minimum allowed.

Anyone else gone through a rear set of these - what mileage did you get ?

:happyclap: on the consecutive first time pass. I'm still looking for a decent BMW specialist or likewise around the Stirling area. I don't trust Menzies and I definitely don't trust Eastern.

Nothing I can say about tyres though, apart from that sounds like some very enthusiastic 7000 miles :D

Where did you measure the rears, as I find the Z4's negative camber means the outside will have 4mm and the inside will have 1mm :P

Good point - thanks - I took 2 or 3 readings which were all similar but think I will check again more accurately re inside v outside - no idea where the garage took their readings from.

I've been a bit lucky here - the guy doesn't advertise as BMW specialist as he's in my small town so he's more of a (very busy) generalist - he just happens to be an ex BMW mechanic from Parks of Hamilton & pretty knowledgeable, reasonably priced and 5 minutes walk from my house ! (the receptionist is nice too)

He's now looking at sticky steering which he's well aware of and probably ordering a section of steering column for me.

Other forum members have used him too (JP). It's only 40 mins from you !

Great news Jack

Think my rears have 4.5mm ish left and have covered 7k miles approx - mixture of commute and hooning :)
