Finally got around to fitting the strut brace...

Not much clearance between engine and brace though. About 5-6mm max...

Now to order some cleaning stuff for the engine bay...
 
Have you driven the car to see if it makes a difference?

What was the insurance impact on this one?
 
Not driven it yet, and need to phone the insurance company, iirc they were ok with OEM mods on the golf, they only charged for the remap
 
Don't forget to get all the brushes as well, including the mini EZ Detail one.

Did you do it yourself ?

Looking at that, I'd be tempted to have the firewall braces chromed to match, or the strut brace sprayed black... Or would those ideas be naff ?

Thanks, yes I did it myself. I also checked the torque on the nuts for the two smaller braces and one did tighten slightly

The brace is stainless I think and not chrome. What I really want is one of those Alutec sets, but they are as teeth are to hens...

£50 feckin quid for the 6 nuts and caps though!

Update - just I was about to press send, the dealer with the 3.5iS called to say it's fixed. I knew this would happen...
 
If I can keep the wallet and "ooh shiny" disorder under control, the mod bug is calling me to put LED lighting in for all indicators, side lights, brake lights and possibly fog lights if suitable high intensity bulbs exist
 
Don't forget number plate lights...

Not sure about indicators and brakes, but I want to do sidelights. Fogs do exist, I think a few on here have done it.

Yep, forgot number plate lamps...

We need a lighting section or thread with relevant part numbers and reviews...
