North East Run
Think you all know by now that we boys up north like to get out as much as week can, (chezsherman, paulgs1000 and cherrym). We always keep in touch regularly so Monday i sent a text around to see who was up for a drive out, Cherrym (mike) got back to me to say he was free unfortunately Paul was unable to join us due to family visiting him this week.
The weather was looking good and surprisingly warm.
I met up with mike around 9:30 to arrange a route we decide to head out towards Rothbury.
We set off around 10am starting the journey via Corbridge then made our way to the A69 turning right onto the B634 passing through KirkHarle, Wallington, and Cambo to end in Rothbury around 11:45. Parking wasn’t the easiest having to split up. We know a cafe (Vale Cafe) which we know and use regularly on this route.
Below are a couple of photos I took whilst there after a coffee break.

From Rothbury we continued along the B634 for our next stop Otterburn (which is a lovely location)
My wife and I stayed in the Otterburn castle for a wedding we were attending along the road at Woodhill Hall. There are some fantastic views and roads leading to Otterburn.

This photo was taken just as we were leaving Otterburn.

At this point Mike asked me if I would like to have a little go of his beloved 2.5si knowing mine is only the 2.0i. I was a little nervous at this point but I accepted. I drove a mile or so down the road and pulled off to exchange back not wanting to push my luck and get too attached with the extra power. Pushing the sport button really makes a difference with throttle response and stiffening the car up.
We had a chat by the roadside about these differences; we also planned our next destination we both agreed to travel through Bellingham. This next photo is taking between Otterburn and Bellingham where Mike rang an old friend to meet us at a converted church cafe which again we have used a few times (Fountain cottage cafe)

This photo and next were taking outside the cafe where we sat and spoke to mikes friend who is a member of the Porsche club.

We picked up the mags from Dave’s and headed back for home. The day was a steady drive out until we left Bellingham where we found ourselves putting our foot down to take advantage of the bends and corners leading towards Wark and Simonburn where we eventually rejoined the A69.
From here we took the A68 towards Broomley, Whittonstall and back to Consett.
Mike and I reflected on the days Hoon. 95miles in total leaving at 10am and getting back home around 4pm, not a bad days drive! This was all going on while washing the cars to get rid of all the salt and dirt these roads have to offer whilst out.
Yet again another great run out in the North East. Looking forward to the 1st march. Paul, Steph and Mike, with a little input from me (more of a listener)
haha have done another great job of organising a fantastic route.
This is the first major write up I have done so hope it lives up to Pauls brilliant NE threads!
