Another faulty roof

Just purchased a 2003 with a faulty roof. The roof button constantly flashes red even when not been pressed.when pressed nothing happens ie,no dropping of windows and no movement in latch motor.Boot motor is over ridden, does the flashing indicate a unknown roof position ,if so which switches are likely to be faulty,or worse could it be a faulty control module?

Might be a flooded roof motor. Is it in the boot, left hand side? If not it’s in the roof drain space and wet, someone will be along with good advice, don’t worry.

Welcome aboard.

I've only had Coupes so don't know much about Roadster roof issues.

But there are some roof expert members on here in Durham, Lincoln, Norfolk, Bristol and Hampshire - apologies if I missed anyone.

If the red light always flashes it may mean the hall sensor on the left hinge has been moved out of line. Which in turn suggests someone has been in there already.
As suggested, a few of us around who can help.

I had an intermittent flashing red light before that would stop the roof going up or down. The error I was getting was "short circuit to ground". Turned out there was a frayed wire that would contact with the hinge sometimes and stop the roof from working

Oh. You’re a little too far for me to take a look then !

If its flashing even when closed, my guess would be a broken sensor loom between the claw motor and the roof ECU down the passenger side of the hood
