Annoyed - kerbed alloy!

Really annoyed.

A short distance from where I live is a really tight, narrow, left hand corner which people always cut when they're coming from the other direction.

Anyway, at the weekend, I was just about to go round said corner when another car came around the opposite way, cut the corner and forced me to move over.

In doing so, i've hit the kerb whilst going round the corner and taken a chunk out of my passenger side rear 19" 326m alloy. Not happy!! They were all mint before that!!

Anyone know if you can just refurbish one alloy? I'm a bit concerned about getting it done in case it's a different colour to the other ones.

Really pi55es me off when that happens

You may find that it can be repaired rather than requiring a full refurb - kind of a 'smart repair' like what is done for small scratches and dings on bodywork. That would ensure the colour remains exactly the same. Failing that, I'd have though a decent wheel place would colour match with the other wheels.

I did the same, have arranged a repair from Chips Away, they have guaranteed to make it look like new. BMW also now offer alloy repair service, there are also many others locally if you google.

I've got a scrape on my front nearside wheel caused by kerbing it in Nottingham multi-storey car park. Grrr.

Not done anything about it yet, I keep thinking that it will probably happen again sometime.

Yep, I had it done after doing the same as you. It has a slightly different shine to it but not so you'd notice. The colour is the same

Hmm - this is what I also keep thinking. If I get it done, sods law states i'll do it again within a matter of weeks!!

I couldn't even blame it on the wife, which was a shame!! :D

Ive have the odd wheel done before (not the zed yet) and they look brand new. Don't let it bug you, just pay the £50 an put it down to experience. :D

Yeah, I had a mobile guy do a scrape on a Honda Accord wheel a few years back. Cost about £35 at the time, impossible to detect.

Great, thanks everyone.
It needs to go back into BMW for the alarm to be looked at so I may just ask them to give me a quote at the same time.

Not sure where you're based but I used these guys once in London and they were pretty good.

No....i'm oooop North so that's a bit far away. Thanks anyway.

Sorry to hear that - I know the feeling especially when it's not entirely your fault!

Again be good to know whereabouts you are in the country - I have used these guys a few times - based in north london and provide a full refurb service (meaning, alloys can be stripped, treated, powder coated, baked etc.. etc...)

Quite pleased with myself tbh, in two years of ownership I've only knocked one alloy... and that was the back left whilst mounting the curb to get out the way for an ambulance.

Don't get me wrong I value the condition of my car but not above someone's life
