Angel Eye recommendations

Time for another angel eye discussion :roll:

I bought my car with aftermarket angels already installed but all four have now gone. The main beams etc still work so I'm not sure what's caused this.
Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any decent new units instead of the cheap Chinese stuff that you can get on eBay?
If there's a certain brand that people with aftermarket angels run that'd be great to know.

What brand are your current headlights with angel eyes? Are they a custom job where someone has broken apart the OEM headlights and added angel eye rings? If not, they are likely some sort of aftermarket version such as these 2xcite ones.

As far as I am aware, these require the angel eyes to be spliced into the wiring loom for one of the other lights, people typically choose sidelights and then code the sidelights as always on. If this is the case then what can happen is poor splicing could potentially have come undone meaning the angel eyes will stop working.

The ones you linked look identical to the ones in my car.
I got them wired by a professional automotive electrician. I hate working with car electrics! The owner before me had used common interior housing wiring which shocked the guy doing my lights.
When I came back to pick the car up it was all sorted and never gave an issue till they just randomly stopped working.

He's saying they may have burnt out but surely all four wouldn't go? then he suggested checking the fuse but again, the rest of the lights work so I doubt this is the issue either.
 
But wouldn't the side lights be on a separate fuse to the mains ?
If they were all on the same fuse you'd be literally in the dark if it blew.

Perhaps, although this does make sense yes. And if that's the case it would make sense why all 4 angels went at once.
Does anyone know what fuse would be for the angels?

Just popped out and checked. They're all good. So it must be the wiring or the angels themselves. Either way, very odd.
On a side note, I do find it odd that all the lights are on a cluster of fuses like that, unless each fuse is for a specific light (e.g 14 is for lows, 23 is for high beams, etc.) but there aren't enough fuses then for each of them to have their own. Very strange I find.
Anyways, I'm heading to the guy that wired them up for me in the first place later this evening. See what he says.
 
As far as I'm aware, the halos in these headlights are lit by a bulb, rather than each ring using LEDs. So if they've all gone out at the same time, it suggests a bulb issue, a wiring issue or a fuse issue.

Hopefully your sparky has been able to sort the problem for you.
 
So it's sorted, thankfully! I was planning on getting an LED kit for it and I really didn't want to take that plunge if the angels had gone!
I checked the fuses shortly before leaving and they were fine and then he checked them and it was fine too. He played around with it and they all popped back on.
He said it was something to do with a fuse. The fuses were fine but the fuse box or relay or something (can't remember what he said) had gone. So he stripped it out, put a new one in and sorted.
All done and dusted in 20 mins while we were talking nonsense.

For reference to assist anyone else, they're not bulbs. Each one is LED and has a pair of individual +/- wires that require a separate feed.
 
Glad you sorted it... I fancy some of these - not a bad price and sounds like they are OK quality and pass an mot... 👍
