Would it be possible to fit an Android tablet something like this: http://www.chinavasion.com/android-tablets-phones/brilliantab-android-23-tablet-with-7-inch-capacitive-touchscreen-wifi-camera-hdmi-4gb/

into the popup sat nav screen, so you'd end up with something like:

Obviously the benefits are a higher resolution screen, great media hub, choice of sat nav software, etc etc

Have googled around and not seen anyone attempt this before

i guess its more than possible - see below

hmmm aesthetically i dont like what they've done, you can see its a sat-nav suspended inside where the screen should be....
But it shows it can be done, i think if the right device was purchased, disassembled and re assembled inside the popup screen, it could look very neat!

Do you know the exact dimensions of the sat nav screen by any chance? cant find it anywhere?

many thanks in advance

Or tether to your phone.

Would look cool but surely in practice it would be annoying having to reach to the screen, & it'd be hard to get a better fit than the pics above around the edge of any tablet.

Shame you wouldn't be able to integrate with the Up/Down on the MSFW either.

It shows that you can update the nav but TBH it looks a bodge up albeit quite a good one!

Not sure I'd be bothered, unless someone comes up with a way to replace the OEM screen with an updated unit.

Hmmm, agreed... great idea but doesn't quite work aesthetically.

I keep thinking that cars could somehow make more use of smartphones / tablets as in car systems are always fairly average and quickly become dated.
