An end to the Roadster/Coupe war?

I thought of this when the coupe came out years back, if there was enough interest these could be made with a difference being in order to get access to the boot the glass is hinged and pop up locks/unlocks with the roadsters trunk/boot central locking. So effectively in the winter you would remove your trunk/boot completely , drop the top and fit on the coupe hardtop.

Excuse the very quick and rough photoshop ...

If these were made I think everyone would want the roadster?? :fuelfire:

Havent a clue but I would pay 1500 for that hardtop if it were available. I like that current one but it is not a patch on the sleek lines of the coupe. There must be company out there than can create this sort of thing in fibreglass ... never researched it :D

didn't BMW come up with the very same idea ? http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:BMW_E89_Z4_sDrive23i.JPG

sounds like a fantastic idea.

what would the black shaded area be made of? would it just be black metal with a window seal on the edge?

haha yes  they did but it lacks the sweeping line all the way to the boot. I imagine if someone were to measure 'head turning' on the street against a new E89 and an E86 the E86 would get the most looks IMO

Oh dear they just dont get it do they!!
To drive with the top down on a frosty morning seats on furness on two cool head wow!!!
Can some one tell um. :poke:

all the parts such as glass, rear brake light, fixing mounts window seals etc could be bought in OEM form it would require the fibre glass shell creating from scratch to bolt and mount it all too..... crazy idea i know :? Yes ben some form of black fibreglass/carbon fibre perhaps?

There's only one way to find out

This one has been kicking around for a long time, the cost would make it a non-starter. Interesting idea though.
