Am I now so p...ed off!

The problem with parking on the street. I seldom come home to find a space outside my house. I might park anywhere, sometimes in another street, therefore I need to treat the car.

Funny someone should mention Lion Dung. I went to purchase something called "GetOff" which sounds like it might at least be usable on the car. I couldn't get any so I tried the lion dung. There's also something called "Scoot" which is specifically for deterring Foxes but it requires mixing the powder with water. It's really designed for the garden, I'm not about to pour ot over the paint work!
As "GetOff" is crystalised and "Silent Roar" (lion dung) is pellets they are at least in a form that I can use.
I have wrapped some in a piece of cotton and tied it into a bundle and dropped a couple of them into the space behind the grill in front of the radiator. I have yet to see if the scent 'radiates' enough for them to pick up on it.

There are of course high frequency sonic deterrents but they come with PIR motion sensors, they are also designed for the garden. Hard to imagine where I could situate them on the car. Will they work through glass?
I've seen expensive badger/fox sonic units that emit the frequency all the time but they are intended for mains power, they'd wear the battery, freak out all the people walking their dogs....I mean the dogs, not the people!

It's comedy really. Until the next time the foxes return.

Any pics of the damage OP? Might be able to help advise if treatable with the DA. Still think paint protection film might be your best bet.

If you can get hold of Ammonia (which you can buy) then go around the area where you park your car. I imagine there is no guarentee to park the same place every night. But within reason roughly where you park pour it neat (watch your eyes) around the vicinity of where you normally park.

CATS/ DOGS/ FOXES all sorts of animals hate the stuff! It will stink of a Old mans boozers toilet for a few days but once the smell is gone the feckers can still smell it and walk away!

Thats what I would do and see if it works. If you have your own parking space then winner winner chicken dinner! Just go around the car about 3Ft away and pour it round the car creating a "barrier!".

As I said watch your eyes! Its smelly as feck and its the smell that affects your eyes, but, the smell will linger for a long time putting the vermin off!

The Fox problem continues.
My Scimitar GTC has a new mohair hood, fitted a year ago. They don’t come cheap!
As well as the Z4, the foxes now have climbed all over this.
They haven’t jump onto the roof, instead they’ve scrabbled up the plastic inlaid rear window.
This is not just one fox, it’s covered in footprints and vertical scratches as they climbed onto the roof.
I have read of foxes chewing soft tops, so far.........

I am a car freak, I’ve spent time and money to keep my vehicles in good shape.
I have lived here for many years with our local foxes, I’ve never had this problem before.
I don’t see a solution to this. I cannot treat the area with Fox deterrent or place PIR sonic units, I park in a heavily parked street wherever I find a space.
I have placed some deterrents in the engine bays which may or may not be detected by their sense of smell.
Beyond that I fear I can only observe as my cars gradually get covered in scratches and somewhat devalued.

None of my neighbours seem particularly concerned about their vehicles although I see the the telltale footprints on their bonnets and roofs.

The seller told me the lion dung is scent free to humans.
It isn’t, it smells of ammonia. As Jock suggested.
I have placed it behind the front grill, which was the plan. Treat the vehicle not the street!
Fortunately, I am not smelling it inside the car.
Citronella is what I’m about to introduce.

I've had big problems with Pigeon poo damaging the paint on my newly acquired Z4 (3 months).
I bought a polishing machine, repaired the damage myself twice which several hours work.
Applied sealant and I am now vigilant cleaning any more droppings ASAP.

Now this is really serious! I've just gone to my car and the windscreen and bonnet are covered in paw marks.
No not the local cat, FOXES! At least I presume it was foxes, unless it was someone's dog!

They've clearly been skidding and sliding around on it and it is covered in deep scratches, not cats.
This is SO frustrating. The bird poo was bad enough but this real damage.
Sure I can spend another afternoon with the polisher working on most of the bonnet, more compound and sealant/wax but what happens tonight? Tomorrow?
Besides, these are deep scratches. If I can rub them down, I'm going to lose a lot of clear coat, if they indeed are not so deep to have gone through to the paint anyway.
This is not a job I can do more than once or twice before I'm through the paint itself anyway.

I'M SO P.....!!!
I despair, this will ruin a nice looking car. Having spent a considerable amount on a vehicle in immaculate condition this is depressing and financially it would be prudent to get rid of it before it becomes devalued by the local wildlife!

What's the answer? A car cover I have to apply and remove every single day?
I don't know if it's possible to wind up the alarm movement sensitivity? It might get rid of them once they jumped onto the car but it's likely to be triggering with passing vehicles and extreme weather.

Get a pest controller in. If it is a cat/dog try to get hold of it and if it has a collar go to the owner for compensation.

Lead pellet up the arse if it lived near me

I also tried an outdoor cover over the winter months but it still ripped that too!

Anyone know of any good cat/dog repellents? I've heard of lemon or antifreeze lol.
Lion dung! but I guess it defeats the object of the exercise if you have to cover the car in it and could be a tad dangerous to collect! :o
Oh I dont know, you see enough witless muppets with 'pet' lions on the internet these days, talk about committing suicide in slow motion.........

I have found "Jeyes Fluid" very good at deterring foxes, cats and dogs - might be an idea to soak a rag and secure it under the car. I found it really useful to make a diluted solution and wash the patio with it - although my dog didn't want to go in the garden when I did that - HTH

Interesting problem you have, as a professional pest controller of 23 years I can empathise with your problem, so let's explore your options, some good ones already suggested include rent a garage, I get that you don't have a regular parking spot and so that excludes the use of skoot etc. Sonic won't go through glass or metal so I'm told, so that's out, an air rifle is out of the question, one it's illegal for foxes and two you can't go shooting on the street, so what would I do if this was me? I'd look for a garage if I could afford one, the other options are to get a fox trap, catch the buggers, but this is where it gets nasty, in law you can't release them ( re distribution of pests act) you would have to put it down, I don't know where you live but if there's a big fox problem and you can't do this yourself using legal methods this will be expensive. So that my friend is about it. Get a garage or move house I'm afraid.

Try putting rags soaked in tcp around the car apparently foxes ect don't like it and will steer clear of it. i got this from pest controller friend years ago.
