Am I just being too picky?

I just bought a Z4MR which was pristine on buying apart from a couple of stone chips. I then (very regretably) scuffed the passenger sill on my way home but got that repaired today (they repaired the whole thing, valeted and waxed the car for £120!). However, I now noticed the sill on each side is plastic and actually a slightly different (non metallic) black on both sides and I'm looking for any small imperfections on the bodywork. Maybe black wasn't the colour as it shows these odd bits more. You can hardly notice of course and it looks stunning all waxed up but I couldn't help myself today.. maybe it's just a case of "new car jitters" :?

No doubt you'll be inundated with posts saying otherwise but I think it is "just a case of new car jitters" (to quote you). IMO anyway.

I think you will sometimes find subtle difference in paint where the base is metal or plastic.

Yep, try a five year old silver model, you'd be going potty at the colour differences if you start to really look properly under certain lighting conditions. Metals all match fine, plastics all match fine, but metal next to plastic!

You always get slight differences in plastic and metal parts even on a brand new car if you look hard enough as you will get a different look to the paint on a flat surface next to a curved surface but keep her clean and well waxed and all will be fine.
