Always wanted to do the London to Brighton run so I've booked me and a pal into this years run with our old minis!

god help my fillings and back and lets hope for not too many break-downs

getting the 260 miles home after the show in Brighton and work the next day should be interesting!

my pal is my boss so hopefully we'll have quiet day!

:driving: :o

Good luck with that - sounds brilliant and I'm sure you'll have some great memories.

Don't forget to post up some photos.

:driving:

I've been on quite a few with my grandad, but not for 20 years or so now. Great fun, especially getting set up in a posh London square at the crack of dawn and the parade on the promenade at the end.

I did this in my MGB with a mate in 1985 for an MG Regency Run - think it was the anniversary of 50 years of something or other, can't remember now. It was brilliant, 100s of MGs from the 1920s right through to the mid 80s set off from Battersea Park all headed for Brighton and an alloted space on the Prom. They had Cecil Kimber's daughter, Jean, there as a guest as well.

I gather it's the L to B Classic Run, what date are you doing it? We did it in May and the weather was superb - which helped a lot. Take loads of photos, we want to see them.

We called here on the way back home to Lancs, the old Pavlova leather works which became the MG factory. sadly closed down by the mid 80s

Found these on my Photobucket as well............

You've got to love the original mini

In the 70's I had a dark blue woody (G reg) when my Capri was off the road.(crash), I managed to squeeze the Capri front seats in the mini.

My wife's 1st car was a L reg, dark blue 1,000 with mustard seats. She loved that car. :driving:

If your of a certain age an awful lot of people have mini stories.

did the youtube link work OK?

not done that before and it's embedded properly on the mini forum I use

thanks

Yes it worked fine, nice little video, thanks I enjoyed that  I almost bought a classic Mini before I bought the Zed, it was on my short list after the MX5 was sold. I'd still like one but it would have to be a well sorted early one with the sliding windows, 10" wheels and start button on the floor. :) I had two back in my 20s before finally moving on to a rather large bandwagon - then Hillman Imps

thanks for the confirmation

have you seen how much early minis are fetching now?

nice ones are breaking £10k and early Cooper two and three times that amount!

Did the London to Brighton a few years back in Brother-in-laws mini, was an awesome adventure! Camped before departure in Crystal Palace park, quite how some of those people were able to drive the next day is beyond me!!

The run itself was on the hottest day of the year so far, which of course lead to the temperature gauge creeping up... Que us, with the heater on full whack, and at every stop wafting the driver and passenger door to try and remove the cabin heat... Worth it when you get to Brighton for all the stalls selling any bit you could ever want and seeing all the lovely mini's lined up... Shame they let the new style mini's in the run, kind of spoiled it a bit, but then some of them were overheating/popping hoses and then we warmed to them a little

Awesome, awesome run though!!
